They polished it off!!! No left overs. It was so worth every penny, a delight to have Saima present throughout taking care of everyone and everything. I felt the guilt, but she reassured me so I hit the bottle. During the sober moments I saw all the colours imaginable. A table full of food that not even an extreme hunger-fuelled mirage could conjure, we now understand the request for ‘stretchy pants’. Everything from the domed tent, to the flickering tea lights and vast array of colours and textures evoked an eastern sensuality that could only be heightened by Saima’s food.

A menu that unites the many flavours and aromas of old and new, taking culinary influence from Mediterranean, the Middle East, Persia and the indian Subcontinent, if only for the evening, it would be hard to place where in the world you are. By the same token, your first mouthful (and the many that follow I can assure you) remains something wholly intimate and visceral, bringing alive the warmth of a long forgotten memory that you just can’t quite seem to place.

You all saw the pictures, how on earth Saima showed up to our coffee date in one piece without the slightest hint of the exhaustion, frustration or utter resentment us normal folk would be feeling after the HUGE clean up job, is all part of the magic of The Hampstead Kitchen. A passion for not only cooking, but for making the experience of eating something beautiful, it’s hardly surprising that every detail from the decor to the final scattering of pomegranates, is treated with the same respect and attention. An eye for detail and taste is of course important, but the integral success of The Hampstead Kitchen seems to lie in the fact that whether catering for an intimate proposal dinner for two, a gorgeous outdoor wedding or an uber glamorous weekend aboard a yacht in Monaco, it’s the client that the food speaks of, not Saima.

The unpretentious, yet completely delicious and innately stylish nature of The Hampstead Kitchen has garnered praise from Yotam Ottolenghi, and more recently caught the attention of Tayyabs, who upon seeing a picture of Saima’s food alone, invited her to be the chef de partie alongside his team at the exclusive (by invitation only) culinary venture that is Meatopia, informally known as the ‘woodstock of edible animals’. Hosting the likes of Richard Turner, Fergus Henderson, Michael White, Sam and Sam Cooke and Niel Rankin to name but a few, there seems to be no better seal of approval or nod to Saima’s talent (those of you who have laid eyes, let alone tried her lamb will surely agree).” Read less
